All news- Meteorological Office Begins Regular Forecasts for the Network
The first Network forecast was issued at 05:30 today. Forecasts are now issued four times daily, with a five-day outlook at 11:30, site forecasts for the six principal sites and a coastal waters forecast twice daily.
- Meteorological Office Publishes Warning Levels and Opens Warning Service
Warnings of hazardous weather will be issued at four levels, from Advisory to Emergency Warning, for eight hazards. Member organisations and citizens may register today to receive warnings by email. No warning is in force.
- Twelve Stations Confirmed in the Office's Observing Network
The Office's observing network comprises twelve surface stations, two weather radars at Harbour Head and Ridgeway Summit and an upper-air station at Central Exchange. All reported to the common observing programme from establishment.
About the Office
The Meteorological Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network forecasts the weather of the Velocity Interoperability Network, warns member organisations and citizens of hazardous weather, and keeps the climate records of the Network.
It operates twelve observing stations, two weather radars and an upper-air station, and its forecasting centre at Central Exchange is staffed at all hours.
